I JUST FOUND THE CANADIAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION

Being told you have adult onset diabetes is rough, and explaining it to your spouse is rougher, but after I told my husband what the Doctor had said to me, we went to the computer and looked up diabetes and that’s when I found the Canadian Diabetes Association.

The Canadian Diabetes Association

I started reading everything that is on their site, and I must say that it helped both of us tremendously to understand what diabetes is, what adult onset diabetes specifically is, and how to control my sugars. I learned, for instance, that it was not my love of sweets that had caused it, but rather that I was kind of “chunky” my husband calls me, and that if I got more exercise as well as taking the medicine that the Dr. had put me on, I’d get much better sugar results.

Learning Is Easy With The Canadian Diabetes Association

The site that they put out could not be better, for it is not only well arranged so that you can find the specific topics you want to read about but they also have links throughout the topics that let you get either further information or actual clarification on whatever subject it is. In addition, I thought it magnificent that they actually provide totally reliable resources for what is called multi-disciplinary healthcare providers as well as researchers. What this means is that even though their site is easy to understand for the layperson, like me, who does not understand medical matters like a Dr. or nurse does, healthcare providers can also utilize it so that they can study the practical applications of diabetes education as well as research.

Other Things The Canadian Diabetes Association Does

In researching their site, I also found out that they put out the Canadian Journal of Diabetes for those in the field that is absolutely brimming with healthcare information for healthcare providers. They also publish a quarterly publication called Canadian Diabetes as a guide for family physicians. It covers diagnosis as well a treatment of diabetics. And as if that were not enough, they also publish the Diabetes Communicator, which is a newsletter that goes very specifically to about 2,600 diabetes educators about diabetes and treatments and medical findings concerning diabetes.

The Canadian Diabetes Association Is Instrumental

They are instrumental in the education of anyone who is even remotely interested in diabetes for whatever the reason. That means that if you know there’s diabetes in your family and you want to learn how to tell if you have the possibility of having diabetes, they will hold classes near you somewhere that you can attend. If you are struck with the news that your young child has diabetes they will work with you even to the point of helping you discuss it with your child. The parameters in which they are instrumental in helping others with regard to diabetes are absolutely staggering. They seem to have as many answers as possible at all times, and if they do not know the answer to what you are asking they will go out of their way to find out for you. I do not know what I would do without the Canadian Diabetes Association.
